About Dr. Dee
Who am I anyway? Am I my resume? (Paul, A Chorus Line)
I grew up in New York City and left at age 17 for college. I received a BS in Biology in 1989 and then an MD in 1994, both at Yale. After residency in Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Washington I completed a fellowship in Breast Imaging in 2000 at the University of California, San Francisco. After a 3-year stint in academics back at UW in Seattle, I found a home at the Seattle Breast Center and worked there for many years.
Then a mentor from high school planted a seed. She told me it was imperative(!) to change my career at least once, if not twice in my life-- to always learn new things and always be stimulated. I was intrigued. But I didn't think I'd ever do that!! I had 3 kids and I loved my job. But when the opportunity fell in my lap to learn how to inject Botox, I jumped at it-- not thinking it would change my career-- but it did.
I'm not your typical spa owner. I'm also not a typical physician or business person. But it has been an incredible eye-opening journey into the Wild West of medical aesthetics. If you read my book, you'll find out just why I felt compelled to write it all down. In it I tell my story of just how I got here, and all the crazy stuff that goes down in this new sphere of medicine and business: the medical spa. If you have ever had Botox or your best friend has, this book is for you.
